Case Study - Pneu-Therm Ltd.
Pneu-Therm Ltd. are a Newark based distributer of electrical heating elements, compressed air line fittings and other engineering components.
They needed a database system to catalogue all of their custom manufactured components in order to check if a customised item has been made before, therefore removing the need to create new drawings and specifications from scratch.
Since engineering components often have many different properties such as widths, diameters, weight etc. the database had to highly flexible and scaleable as well as having extensive search facilities in order to allow Pneu-Therm staff to quickly find products using just one of the many possible search criteria.
The resulting application was deployed on Pneu-Therm's computers quickly and without the need for any new or additional hardware. We also implemented our nightly backup service to ensure that the contents of the database are securely and regularly copied to a remote server via the Internet.
The application has made such an improvement to Pneu-Therm's operations that they have been in contact with us again to discuss expanding the system to allow them to add scanned engineering drawings and other useful data to the database.
